Additional Tips for Writing a Manuscript:
Start with manuscript, then abstract
Pull results first, graphs, figures, then methods and introduction
Titles should be SIMPLE like a country song with a clear message (love or drinking)
Don’t try to over sell your results and leave interpretation for discussion section …ex) take out “interestingly”
Do not repeat in writing what is in the figures and tables, ex) “table 1 shows the demographics of the population”, not “table 1 shows our demographics was 45% female”.
When writing limitations/strengths…END with strengths or on a positive note
If using AI, be clear in how you used it. Did it do Data interpretation, or grammar cleaning? Be careful and truthful. The whole thing should not be written by AI but if it is used to improve language then use it in methods or acknowledgments.
When selecting a journal, choose your audience. Is it general pediatrics or specialists?
Write in third person, no “our study”, instead: “the study”.
Use person first writing, ex) “person with diabetes” not “diabetic person”
